The incident took place in the late hours of Friday morning and involved a woman and a man.

They had been walking in the area around the Bologna Hotel, which is near the Italian city of Pisa, and when the woman approached the man and started making sexual comments, the man reportedly jumped on top of her.

According to local reports, the victim managed to grab the attacker by the neck and pull him away from the woman.

The attacker then ran away in a white car and the victim went after him, the local news agency ANSA reported.

Police found the car that the man had allegedly been driving at a nearby parking garage, where they took him into custody.

He was later identified as 35-year-old Alessandro Liguria, according to the news agency.

According the local police, Ligura was not involved in any of the alleged assaults.

However, the police say he is suspected of assaulting another man last week, who has been released from hospital.
